JULIAN ALMANY

2018 Inductee

LET IT BE KNOWN, that by a vote of the Rolling In Golf Club Board of Directors, and with a strong sense of admiration that the Club honors posthumously Julian Almany of Detroit, Michigan as he is celebrated for his dedication to Rolling In Golf Club and for his commitment and passion to the game of golf.

Julian Almany was the 10th member of the Rolling In Golf Club, and was an active participant in the inaugural year of the club in 2008. Julian continued his devotion to the club and its mission to promote, support and play the game of golf until his untimely death in September 2016. Known for his smooth swing, even demeanor and his skills in teaching all facets of the game, he was always willing to give advice to any player, but only if asked. A true golf competitor of considerable skill as well as social player, Julian was well informed about the physics and materials associated with golf equipment. He was a quick reference to the history of any club found in one's golf bag and  was

"Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening, and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented."   ..Arnold Palmer

particularly interested in  the emerging technology found  in golf equipment and golf course design. During the early years of the club's operations,

Julian assisted in the development of the club's tournament and team play. For many years (up and until the club had 36 members), Julian and his "gal" (Lisa), would get up in the early hours of the morning from their loft condo in Detroit and purchase fresh bread and lunch meat and make a variety of "gourmet" sandwiches for each member playing in the day's club event. At the end of year gathering, he would often have a small gift for each member, such as lessons burned to a cd', or a package of golf utensils or other golf bag goodies. In his private time, Julian loved to tinker with his VW Beetle that he totally rebuilt. Living in Detroit, Julian was enjoyable to be with socially due to his urban style and Southern California "aging hippie" tendencies. What especially made Julian a pleasure to know and be associated with on and off the course was that he never had a bad word to say about anyone, golfer or not. In summary: Everyone loved Julian.

IN SPECIAL TRIBUTE, therefore, this document is dedicated to the honor of Julian Almany and by the signatures of the Chair of the Hall of Fame Committee and President of the Rolling in Golf Cl · name to the Rolling In Golf Club Hall of Fame
