LET IT BE KNOWN that by a vote of the Rolling In Golf Club Board of Directors, and with a strong sense of admiration, that the club honors Rodney (Rod) Cooper of Oxford, Michigan as he is celebrated for his passion for the game of golf, and his longstanding dedication and participation in the Rolling in Golf Club.

Rod Cooper was not only one of the original members of the Rolling in Golf Club in 2008 but was also present at the founding discussion to create the golf club at the Dick-0-Dows pub in Birmingham, Michigan. Known for his fluid swing, and genuine spirit for the game, Rod is a serious student of the game, and has considerable knowledge of all aspects of the game of golf from equipment to course design. He is a two-time Masters Division Champion and sometimes single digit handicap golfer. From the founding of the club and

RODNEY COOPER

2020 Inductee

"Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening, and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented."   ..Arnold Palmer

until 2020, Rod was a member of the Board of Directors, and in his retirement from the Board continues to be a voice to the Board and planner/coordinator of many club events. From Rod's efforts on the Board, the club went from a few to a membership of close to 70.

Being a consistent participant and organizer in most all of the events since the beginning of the Rolling in Golf Club Rod has, and will always be known, as the voice and "go to "person of the club. His efforts and dedication of scheduling, pairing and working most every event over the many years that the club has been in existence has ensured positive results for the game of golf and the club members. The Rolling in Golf Club is a unique organization in the North American golf world and has been a success largely due to Rod's vision and perseverance. From the beginning, Rod understood that the Rolling in golf Club is more than a league, it is instead a private club, without real estate, with golfers regularly competing at a high level in compliance within the rules of golf at a variety of high-end public golf courses. Rod is consistently positive and enthusiastic in his disposition and does his best ( even under sometimes difficult situations) to be just in his dealings and fair in his assessments in all undertakings of the club. His advice and suggestions on how to improve the club have always been taken seriously and have often been acted upon by the Board of Directors or individuals assisting in an event.

What makes Rod a true Rolling in Golf Club Hall of Fame inductee, is that he is known for both being fun to socialize with and to play golf with. He treats all club members like golfers ( no matter their handicap), is a stickler for rules (but not beyond the occasional gimmies for others, and yes, certainly for himself) and despite being consistently adamant in his position on any given issue, Rod ultimately agrees with what is best, after reasoned discussion. Mature as a player, he is appreciated for having a calming influence on his fellow players who might be having a bad day on the course Oust don't play slow!). His courtesy and etiquette on the golf course is nothing short of first class.

His penchant for emails and texts are biblical and unlike any norms found in science, nature or the world of the internet. Yet, they do inform. Most revealing, one must follow the story of his missives ... especially up to and including the hour before a story becomes real or the first tee is scheduled. In fairness--events, players and weather do change. He is the club's best friend, a confident to many and a true golfer.

THEREFORE, in special tribute, recognized by the signatures of the Chair of the Hall of Fame Committee and President of the Rolling in Golf Club, Rodney (Rod) Cooper is rightfully and with the unanimous acclimation of the club's Board of Directors named to the Rolling In Golf Club Hall of Fame.
